Oil Filter and Oil Information - 2006 VW Jetta GLI 2.0T FSI

Oil Filter and Oil Information

Oil Filter and oil information for the VW/Audi 2.0T FSI engine. How to reset the service light procedure.

This information should cover 2.0T and 2.5L engines with codes AXW, BGQ, BLR, BLX, BLY, BPR, BPS, BPG, BPY. As always, please reference or check with your reseller or service department for accuracy.

The filter is a cartridge type filter and is inside this housing:

You can get to this by removing the plastic shield under the engine, 4 torx screws on either side. The oil filter housing required a 36mm socket to open it up.

VW only recommends using oil that meets the VW 502.00 spec AND is approved by VW. One of these is the Mobil 1 oil in only the 0W-40 (for gasoline engines), commonly found for cheap at Walmart. Be careful, there's new oils on the market that claim they meet the VW spec, but they are not APPROVED by VW. Stick to the list that VW publishes! The PDF list can be found here

TDI owners will need to find a 505.01 spec'd oil with VW approval.

It's the same for 2006+ 2.0T engines! Check your manual or filter reseller for exact applications.
