(24 August 2007). Ready for running its first race: The new Formula 3 engine from Volkswagen will celebrate its racing début during the DTM weekend on the Nürburgring (31 Aug -02 Sep). For its comeback as an engine supplier, Volkswagen initially equips three vehicles in the Formula 3 Euro Series.

Volkswagen previously launched a contest to find the oldest VW Diesel car in the USA. Low and behold, Clint Wilson submits his 1977 Rabbit to the challenge, wins, and gets to drive a V10 TDI Touareg for 6 months. I would have expected a 55 gallon drum of free diesel, but we love Touaregs!!

Golf BlueMotion - First Facts

Wolfsburg, Germany – Volkswagen will be firing off the next salvo of its BlueMotion offensive at the Internatio­nal Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt. In total, six new models with technology that is as economical as it is environmentally friendly, will debut at the world’s largest car show. One of the high­lights there: The new Golf BlueMotion. At just 4.5 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers, its fuel consumption has been reduced by a full 0.6 liters compared to the original model. Similarly, CO2 emissions have been reduced from 135 g/km to 119 g/km.

DARPA Urban Challenge 2007 in the USA: Passat Wagon "Junior" one stage further
